Went searching for something that would fit the threads on the 2.5" slug bores we are now carrying. Found an Elkhart 1.5" to 2x 1.5" gated wye that would fit on the threads of our 2.5" slug bores.

The other day we had about 400 gpm (if I am remembering correctly) off a 2.5" to 2x 1.5" gated wye to 2x 250' 1.75" lines.

With this smaller wye how much would we loose? Anyone know or does anyone know where we can get one to test and train with?

What about using a 1.5"x2.5" increaser on the nozzle then you can use the 2.5" gated wye's we already have and it can also be used to extend 2.5" lines without shutting down (two increasers should still be quite a bit cheaper than a gated wye). I believe Denver carries a couple on every engine, one in the engineer's compartment and one in the high-rise bag. Or we could push for 2.5"x2.5" shutoffs with 2" waterways and a set of tips on them instead of the nozzles we have, that will give you a lot of options, but would be pretty expensive.

The increaser would be a 1.5" Female to 2.5" Male correct? Might be an option.

I was just looking for a single device that could be used (K.I.S.S. principle.) The idea of extending off the nozzle with an increaser is interesting. My question is how do you ensure that the bail will not get closed behind you?

Yes 1.5" female x 2.5" male. The bail would need to be tied open, a good use for one of the straps off the high-rise bundle if it is being used, maybe put the pull rope in your pocket when you pull the 1.75" or use the webbing loop from the 2.5".
